The Illgraben is one of the most active mountain streams in Switzerland with several mudslides per year. These flows of debris can transport several 10,000 tons of rock, stone and earth that are up to 2 m high and flow with speeds of up to 25 km/h.
The forest of Pfyn/Finges nature reserve is the centrepiece of the regional nature park Pfyn/Finges. The forest of Pfyn/Finges has been officially protected since 1997, after it had already been included in the KLN inventory in 1963.

The parish church of St Stephen is in the centre of Leuk. The towering and imposing bell tower draws the visitor's attention to the stately building.
In the Leuk-Stadt church there is a charnel house with a wall of skulls 20-metres long, which can be visited daily.
For the bishops this was the summer residence - for rogues and criminals it was dungeons and the torture chamber: the bishop's castle or "rogues' tower".
The distinctive corpus of the Town Hall tower with its pentagonal base is situated at the entrance to the town in the immediate vicinity of the bishop's castle.
The Ring Acker chapel is considered one of the most magnificent baroque buildings in Valais. It stands on a plateau between Susten and Leuk-Town. Nothing is known about its architects.

Oberems lies on a mountain road at the entrance to the Turtmann valley at an altitude of 1335 m. The "Gateway to Turtmann valley" only has 135 inhabitants, but with 5080 ha its area is one of the largest communities in the district of Leuk.

Oberems has also done something for families with children and made a picnic and children's playground on 2001 at Fenster 7, just above the village.
In winter the hamlet Colombire lies in the middle of the ski area Crans-Montana - Aminona and in summer on the edge of the popular Bisse de Tsittoret hiking trail!

This walk starts at the satellite ground station, goes over traditionally cultivated fields in Brentjong to the rocky steppes. Having arrived in the Rhone valley, we recommend walking through Leukerfeld, which is outstanding for bird-watching.
Leukerfeld has blossomed into a paradise for bird watchers in the last few years as a result of upgrading by the A9 motorway compensation measures.
The site is located 1600 m.a.s.l. and has room for about 100 people. Access by car is possible, drinking water, sufficient firewood and a flush toilet are available.

Walk on historical trails
Leukerbad – Varen ladders – Salgesch
From Leukerbad the cultural trail towards Salgesch goes through agricultural regions, sections of woodland and past rock faces.
On the way through vineyards and wine villages in the nature park.

Easy cycle tour with attractive places by the water.
The perfect route for an e.bike tour. Ride along the Valais language border and at the same time through diverse typical Valais villages such as Muras, Veyras and Miège. Enjoy the wonderful panorama over the valley.
Staring in Gampel, this cycling route offers an easy and short stretch and is attractive for both children and parents. On the way to Leuk there are several playgrounds to visit as well as the pond in Leukerfeld and the Feschel gorge.
The trail is rich in contrast and offers a unique experience with discovery on both sides of the valley. Experience the Nature Park with the wild romantic Turtmann valley on the left side and the sunny mountains of Leuk on the right.
Start with the cable car ride: Gampel - Jeizinen. From Jeizinen the route leads to Erschmatt and/or Feschel-Guttet. Between Leuk and Varen one crosses the Dala gorge. The descent goes directly down through Salquenen to the railway station at Sierre.

Walking over hill and alp.
The walk passes 6 different alps. The fantastic view of the Valais mountain world, marmots and bearded vultures are among the points of interest on this walk.

Unterems offers a fantastic view in autumn of the fire-red smoke bushes in the rocky steppes on the opposite slopes. From there the walk leads over the Bhutan Bridge through the forest of Pfyn/Finges to Leuk railway station.
Discover wine and water between Sierre and Salgesch. The walk goes from Sierre past the Gironde Lake and along the wild Rhone to Salgesch. A wine-tasting stop at one of the wine partner companies is well worthwhile.
This ‘Turriljigut’ (a country estate which has been under family ownership for several hundred years) comprises 10 hectares of land and is based in one of the biggest pine forests in Europe, the Pfyn Forest (Pfyn-Finges Nature Park).
