The primeval landscape of Breccaschlund, formed by glaciers, is mysteriously fascinating. A technically easy circular hike of around four hours leads from the Riggisalp above Schwarzsee to the foot of imposing limestone walls. Then it's back down into the valley from alpine inn to alpine inn.

Glaciers that have long since melted have created a unique habitat for marmots, eagles and orchids. In the primeval landscape with its alpine huts, you feel at one with nature again. Various paths lead into the area of the Brecca primeval landscape. The excursion starts at the beautiful Schwarzsee lake and can easily be combined with a visit to the environmental exhibition at the Schwarzsee information center. From here, you can take the Kaiseregg cable car or set off on foot into the Brecca primeval landscape. The paths are signposted with hiking signs. Information boards along the way provide information about the flora and fauna.

The "Untere Euschels" café invites you to stop for a coffee. Afterwards, the hiking trail leads up and down to ever-changing views. The view of Schwarzsee from Rippetli is particularly beautiful. A little later, you enter the Breccaschlund nature reserve, a natural monument of national importance. It is easy to see that glaciers were the master builders here. A special magic emanates from the imposing limestone rock faces, their whitish peaks rising steeply from the lush green of the alpine meadows. Old dry stone walls, alpine flowers and ruminating cows under mighty sycamores complete the picture.

There's also no shortage of rustic mountain inns along the way: on the Cerniets Alp and the Steinige Rippa Alp, for example, cheese is the trump card. And for dessert, we recommend Alp Hubel Rippa with its wonderful view of Schwarzsee, just 20 minutes away. Tip: From Rippetli in Breccaschlund, the hike can be shortened by a good four kilometers. The cozy alpine huts give everyone a warm welcome. The Brecca primeval landscape is marketed in collaboration with the Gruyères-Pays d'Enhaut Nature Park.
