Landschaftspark Binntal

REGIONAL NATURE PARK SINCE 2012

Binntal offers surprises at every turn. This side valley of Valais is richer in minerals than any other Alpine region. The mountain village of Ernen is transformed in summer into a classical music village. A unique wild tulip grows in the old rye fields of Grengiols.

The Binntal Nature Park lies in the Upper Valais and includes the villages of Binn, Ernen, Grengiols and Bister. The central area of the Park is Binntal, which had already been protected by the population in 1964 and belongs today in the landscape inventory and natural monuments of national importance.

Binntal is particularly well-known for its minerals. No other region in the Alps is so rich in minerals. Binntal Nature Park is also renowned for its extensive natural and cultural landscapes, which are maintained with a lot of love and care. Several chapels and churches, barns and storehouses are considered to be cultural assets of cantonal and national significance. The villages and their hamlets have been so well-maintained that they stand as Sites of National and Regional Importance. The mountain village of Ernen is transformed in summer into a world-class classical music village. Visitors will also not be disappointed with the culinary treats in the Park.

The Binntal Nature Park offers countless marked hiking trails to explore the area on foot. Winter visitors can enjoy the snow-covered landscape on beautiful winter hiking trails and attractive snowshoe tracks. Also running through the park is the historical transport route through the Twingi Gorge and over the Albrun pass to the neighbouring «Parco Naturale Veglia-Devero» in Italy, with which the Binntal Nature Park has held its label as Transboundary Parc since 2019.
